The Corporate Volunteer Council has completed the renovation of the "Rec" as its Spring, 1997 DAYS OF CARING project. Hundreds of employees from 47 CVC companies worked side-by-side painting, cleaning, landscaping and generally refurbishing this historic Valley institution. Opened in 1917, the Recreation Camp has been providing Valley residents a safe, affordable fun place to learn to swim, sail, canoe and windsurf. The Camp offers a full summer program of activities for Valley kids for a very, very modest fee. Generations of Valley children grew up at the Rec largely because the actual costs of the camp have been subsidized by the community. Nowadays, a large portion of that funding comes from Valley United Way. This project will help ensure that the Camp's limited dollars will go into programming and help keep costs down.
