Living United in the Valley!
United
Ways all across America used the longest
day of the year to promote community volunteerism throughout local
communities. Here in the Valley that meant hands-on opportunities with two
local projects that took place during the week leading up to June
21 as well as taking part in a state-wide effort to build awareness of the
2-1-1 Infoline Service which is a 24 hour a day information and referral
services offered by the State of Connecticut and United Way. Valley United
Way's Corporate Volunteer Council is the key to
the success of these efforts.

The hands on projects offered the best of something very old and something
very new in our Valley. One opportunity involved cleaning and painting at
the historic David
Humphreys House in Ansonia while the other involved the creation of a
play area at the brand new Spooner House Homeless Shelter in Shelton.
The
other effort was state wide to help build awareness of
one of our state’s most valuable resources – 2-1-1.
We asked YOU to join us and show you careby taking time to
tell 5 friends, neighbors or coworkers about 2-1-1. Or just forward this page
to 5 others.
Lots of
people in our community need essential services or want to help others, but they
don’t know where to turn. 2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember telephone number that
connects you with important community services, information, and volunteer
opportunities. Anyone can dial 2-1-1 in the state of Connecticut, 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week. And it’s a toll-free call.
