1996 Griffin Health Services Community Corporate Awards Presented!

The 1996 Community Corporate Cup is history, and Griffin Health Services and The Birmingham Group have repeated as champions in the Large and Small Divisions respectively. For Griffin, it means that they have gained permanent possession of the Large Division Cup as they now have won their Division for the third straight year. Birmingham Group has done them one better by capturing their fourth Small Division title. A team needs to win the title three times before the Cup is retired. Birmingham will now need two more wins to capture their second piece of permanent hardware. The results were announced at an awards ceremony for all participants hosted and sponosred by Griffin Health Services on June 12.

Organized in 1990 by Valley United Way and Valley YMCA as an annual fund raising event, the Community Corporate Cup features a Healthy Team competition encouraging lifestyle changes designed to improve the general health of participants and such sports activities as volleyball, bowling, basketball, horseshoes, mini-golf and track & field. Points are awarded for every event and awards are presented to event winners and the overall Cup winner. Entrants are grouped into two divisions based on the number of employees they have. Events are designed for the non-athlete and athlete so that both anyone can participate.

Proceeds from the Community Corporate Cup benefit Valley United Way and Valley YMCA.
