VUW Announces Funding Decisions

Twenty-four Groups To Receive Funding

On-line Process for the first time

Valley United Way's Board of Directors recently approved allocations to agencies providing a wide variety of services in the Valley Area. The decisions followed a month of budget and program reviews conducted by volunteer members of the Allocations Committee who spent countless hours examining agency requests and making site visits to see programs in action.

For the first time, the process was largely electronic rather than paper based as agencies submitted their request on-line and volunteers were able to review the forms and make their recommendations on-line as well.

The Allocations Committee was chaired by Peter Galla of Naugatuck Savings Bank and included the following members:

In announcing the Board decisions, Board Chairman Mike Marcinek said that it was a very difficult year as demand for services tends to go up during tough economic times while the resources to support those needs are limited. He said, "Valley United Way  is pleased to continue its great tradition of supporting so many worthwhile agencies and programs. Our Allocations Committee did a tremendous job with their review work, and the Board of Directors thank them for their diligence and hard work. Our challenge is to continue to grow the Annual Community Fund Raising effort to continue to meet the needs of our community."
